The North Bucks Primary Care Network (PCN)
& Medicas Health Limited

This practice belongs to the Primary Care Network and Medicas Health along with 6 other practices locally. The organisations both work in different ways to help deliver the principles of The Long Term Plan for the NHS.  These are to work in a more integrated way and to deliver services on a larger scale with the aim to improve healthcare for the population we serve.  The 7 practices working together in the North Buckinghamshire region are:

  • Waddesdon Surgery – Waddesdon
  • The Swan Practice – Buckingham
  • Norden House – Winslow
  • Wing Surgery – Wing
  • Ashcroft Surgery – Wing
  • Whitchurch Surgery – Whitchurch
  • Edlesborough & Pitstone Surgeries – Edlesborough & Pitstone

What does this mean?

The practices will be providing services for their patients by working together, sharing staff and premises space and delivering a wider range of services between them, that they wouldn’t normally be able provide as individual practices.

How is my data protected?

Your personal identifiable data is not shared with either organisation or between practices. Neither the PCN or Medicas hold or store any personal data. All projects around service redesign use only anonymous data.

If a project is deemed appropriate for a certain cohort of patients then the correct processes under GDPR are followed. You will be contacted for consent, or the work will only be carried out by staff in your own practice.  No data is shared without your explicit consent.  This is especially important with the research projects.  All staff are working within your practice and with governance in place.

For both organisations and across the 7 practices there are sharing agreements in place, with confidentiality agreements for staff. A Data Protection Impact Assessment is carried out for each project, as well as individual privacy notices displayed on each practices website.

Why do we need both organisations?

The PCN is not a legal body and so it cannot in itself hold a contract for a service. It has a wider membership including voluntary sector organisations and other local providers i.e. hospitals, community staff and charitable organisations. Medicas Health is a limited company.
